I have carried this with me for a long time and I ask Zach for forgiveness everyday. You see, I love Zach so so much and I am ashamed of myself for not meeting Zach during his life. Technically, I am his Great-Aunt but in reality, I am nothing of the kind. Zach only knew me as a person in his family that his momma told him about - possibly his Grampa Steve's sister that lived in Colorado...
ReplyDeleteNevertheless, I should have made an attempt to introduce myself to Zach as a real person in his family that cared for him and loved him. Now, I talk to Zach everyday and ask him to forgive me and assure him that I may not be able to see Ashlan and Sydney as often as I would like but I will be a Great-Aunt to them both. A real Great-Aunt, not just the title of one.
Tia, I hope you too can find in your heart to forgive me and allow me to have relationships with my beautiful nieces.
I want to be a bigger part of my families lives and I do hope that I will be met with open arms. Busy lives are not worth losing these wonderful relationships that God has given to us to enjoy.
I love you Zach. You, sweet boy, have given me so much. You have fed my heart and soul with precious knowledge. You are my Angel and my Great-Nephew.
